The gap between Manchester United and Liverpool is wider than it’s been for years.United have been the superior club since Liverpool’s era of domination ended in the early 1990s - but the roles have now reversed completely over the past couple of years.Liverpool, the reigning European champions, are currently top of the Premier League table with eight wins from eight. Jurgen Klopp’s side are already 15 points clear of 12th-placed United, who have won just two of their league fixtures at the start of this season and are in disarray. The two sides go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon and most people are expecting a victory for the visitors. In fact, many people believe Liverpool could be about to humiliate their fierce rivals at their home stadium.

Ahead of Sunday’s match, Sky Sports decided to ask Danny Mills (who didn’t play for either club during his career) to name his combined Man Utd and Liverpool XI.

And after going through each position, he was left with the following line-up…

That’s right: a complete Liverpool XI.

Not much of a combined XI, Danny!

In fairness to the former England international, though, which United players *would* currently get into this combined XI?

David de Gea over Alisson Becker, perhaps. Paul Pogba over Jordan Henderson or Gini Wijnaldum? Harry Maguire over Joel Matip?

None of the United forwards are getting in instead of Liverpool’s revered front three but there are certainly cases for the aforementioned players.

Mills’s combined XI has made many football fans on social media laugh.
