Cristiano Ronaldo has just scored his 700th career goal.

Ronaldo sat on 699 as his Portugal side travelled to Ukraine in their Euro 2020 qualifier.

Portugal went into the tie five points behind their opponents in Group B with a game in hand.

But Ronaldo ensured this night was all about him.

Ukraine may have been 2-0 up but Ronaldo made no mistake from the penalty spot to score his 700th goal.

It’s Ronaldo’s 95th goal for his country.

In terms of his club career, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored five for Sporting before his £12 million move to Manchester United. The transfer fee made him the most expensive teenager in world football but it’s fair to say he paid that back during the six seasons he was at Old Trafford.

In 292 games for the Red Devils, Ronaldo notched 118 times. His most prolific season in England came during the 2007/08 campaign, where he scored 42 goals in 49 matches.

Ahead of the 2009/10 season, he earned a world-record £80 million move to Real Madrid. And his goal record at the Bernabeu was just ridiculous.

In the 438 matches he played during his nine campaigns at the club, he scored an eye-watering 450 goals.

After conquering England and Spain, Ronaldo decided to join Juventus in 2018. Now well into his thirties, Ronaldo’s goalscoring rate has slowed slightly but he still managed 28 goals for the Old Lady last season and has added a further four this camapaign.

976 matches. 700 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to have ever played the game.
