It was an awful night for football in Sofia last night after the visiting England team were subjected to vile racist abuse from the stands.

It was simply unacceptable behaviour from the Bulgarian fans and has no place in football in this current day and age.

The foul nature of the chants and gesticulating were clear for all to see and calls for severe punishment have been ringing out ever since.

Now, according to Sky, it has been revealed that the Bulgarian Football president, Borisov Mihaylov, has resigned from his post following the dreadful events.
