Cristiano Ronaldo reached another impressive landmark last night as he struck his 700th professional goal.

The Portuguese superstar was given his chance from the penalty spot and he made no mistake as he dispatched his effort into the net.

Unfortunately, his goal proved to be in vain as Portugal were defeated 2-1 by Ukraine.

However, he still declared his pleasure on Instagram after the game.

"Proud to score the 700th goal of my career. I would like to share with all those who helped me reach this mark," he wrote.

"Today we did not get the result we wanted but together we will qualify for Euro 2020."

It's taken 17 years for Ronaldo to net his 700th goal.

His first in professional football came all the way back in 2002 on his debut for Sporting Lisbon.

Ronaldo, who was just 17 years old at the time, scored twice against Moreirense.

Since then, Ronaldo has scored all types of goals.

Tap-in's, wonder-goals, free-kick's, penalties, headers... Ronaldo has scored them all.

And after reaching the landmark on Monday night, one football fan has actually compiled every single one of Ronaldo's 700 goals and put them into one video.

So for those that have 20 minutes spare and want to watch Ronaldo celebrate 700 times, sit back, relax and enjoy greatness.

We salute HasCR7 for taking the time to put the video together.

Ronaldo has now become just the 6th player in history to score 700 professional goals.

Josef Bican leads the way having hit the back of the net 805 times.

He's then followed by Romario (772), Pele (767), Ferenc Puskas (746) and Gerd Muller (735).

Ronaldo is now 34 but he's showed no signs of slowing down when it comes to hitting the back of the net.

Time isn't on his side, but you wouldn't bet against him surpassing Bican's goal total before the end of his career.
