There's no denying that when fully fit, Neymar is one of the finest players in world football.

But the Brazilian forward's reputation throughout the world isn't exactly the most positive, with many slamming his play-acting on the filed and mercenary-like attitude off of it.

However, with the ball at his feet in full flow, there are few better than him.

His immense natural talent saw Paris Saint-Germain shatter the transfer world record to sign him in 2017, paying £198m for his services.

Neymar has scored goals for fun in the French capital, but persistent injuries and off-field issues saw him linked with a return to Barcelona this summer.

A deal never materialised, with the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus also linked with the 27-year-old.

It seems Manchester United also registered their interest behind-the-scenes, but they pulled the plug on making a bid due to the Brazilian's party lifestyle.

According to The Athletic, Ed Woodward was keen on Neymar as he believes United 'should have at least one Ballon d’Or contender in their squad'.

But officials at the club were quick to bring a halt to any notion of interest due to his flamboyant lifestyle off the pitch.

Daniel Taylor wrote in his report: "At Old Trafford, however, they tell a joke that offers an insight into the club’s thinking. 'If you have one Brazilian, you have one Brazilian,' it goes. 'If you have two Brazilians, you have two Brazilians. And if you have three, you have a samba party.'

"In Neymar’s case, United think it would be him pouring the caipirinhas."

United had serious concerns over his 'money-obsessed' father, who operates as his agent.

Those at Old Trafford also believe Neymar doesn't dedicate himself to the sport like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

So despite being one of the few clubs with the financial resources to afford Neymar, United simply weren't interested.

But you have to ask yourself; would a hungover Neymar be better than Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira? I think that answer is a resounding, yes...
