Luis Figo has said he’s forgiven former Real Madrid teammate Ronaldo for the comment he once made about his wife, Helene Svedin.

The two superstars enjoyed two-and-a-half seasons at the Bernabeu before Figo left for Inter Milan during the 2004-05 campaign.

But it was during their time in Madrid that Ronaldo made a rather controversial statement about Figo’s wife.

Club president Florentino Perez asked Ronaldo why he insisted on partying instead of remaining professional like Figo.

To which the Brazilian striker replied: “If I had the wife that Figo does, I would always stay at home.”

This week, Figo and his wife were appearing on Spanish television programme El Hormiguero and was asked about Ronaldo’s comments.

"I had already known about [the comment], because he had said it in the dressing room," Figo revealed.

"But I forgive Roni because he is always joking.

"What he doesn't know is that I would leave the house when my wife would fall asleep!"

Figo and Ronaldo may have played together during the Galactico era but they only had one La Liga and one Intercontinental Cup to show for it.

Meanwhile, Figo and Svedin got married in 2001 and have three daughters together - Daniela (20), Martina (17) and Stella (14).

And during the interview on TV, Figo described her as "A collection of adjectives: elegant, attractive, sexy, a great mother and most importantly a great person."
