Manchester United will look to become the first team to beat Liverpool in the Premier League this season when the two sides go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It’s not looking good for the Red Devils, though. Not only are they in the midst of a dismal run of form but they are facing something of an injury crisis.

Paul Pogba and David de Gea have already been ruled out of the clash.

Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jesse Lingard could also miss the game.

The last thing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs right now is to be facing the Premier League’s hottest team without several first-team players.

But that’s the situation that the Norwegian coach finds himself in and as a result, very few are giving United a chance.

Man United have been dreadful this season, winning just two matches and currently occupying 12th place in the table.

And it doesn’t look like Liverpool are preparing for a truly strenuous challenge.

On Thursday, the Reds shared pictures on Twitter of Virgil van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho playing basketball at the club’s training facilities.

And fans are joking that Liverpool simply don’t need to train to face Man United.

Don’t worry. The Reds did actually do some work on the training ground.

The table-toppers may be favourites on Sunday but they haven’t actually won at Old Trafford since 2014.

And another record that bodes well for Man United is Sergio Romero’s form in goal.

The Argentinian has kept six clean sheets in seven Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

Admittedly he hasn’t faced Liverpool’s vaunted front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

But United supporters will take anything they can to give them confidence heading into the game.

There’s already a 15-point gap between the two sides.

Man United can’t afford to let that grow any wider.
