The footballing decade is coming to an end and what an incredible 10 years it's been for Barcelona.

Their first full season in the 2010s was marked with a near-perfect Champions League campaign, culminating at Wembley Stadium with a legendary 3-1 win over Manchester United.

The Blaugrana haven't quite reached those same heights again, but a brief European renaissance under Luis Enrique and habitual Lionel Messi brilliance has kept the Catalan gold shining.

So, as the decade comes to a close, there seems no better way to honour Barcelona's glorious epoch than by naming their greatest XI from between 2010 and 2019.

While some positions unquestionably picked themselves, there were some tough choices in certain areas and you can peruse our final decision down below.

GK - Victor Valdes

We could easily have selected Marc-Andre ter Stegen - who is arguably the world's best goalkeeper right now - but we're going for the man between the sticks during Barcelona's modern zenith.

While Valdes certainly had his wobbly moments, the Spaniard was a reliable hand behind three La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey victory and a Champions League crown in this decade.

RB - Dani Alves

Who else? The Brazilian has won a world-record 36 trophies in his career, many of which came at Barcelona since 2010, and is nipping at the heels of players like Cafu as the greatest full-back in history.

CB - Carles Puyol

You could argue that the Barcelona legend's best days were behind him by the turn of the decade, but Puyol was still a colossus during his final four and a half seasons at Camp Nou.

CB - Gerard Pique

Practically part of the furniture at Barcelona now, Pique has made over 400 appearances for the Blaugrana this decade. In that time, he's lifted seven La Liga titles, two Champions League trophies and the Copa del Rey on five occasions.

LB - Jordi Alba

It pains us not to include the entire 2011 back five, but Alba narrowly gets the nod over his predecessor Eric Abidal.

As far as the decade is concerned, the nippy wide-man has largely been unchallenged since 2012 - making over 300 appearances - and has formed an astonishing connection with Messi.

CDM - Sergio Busquets

Arguably the most underrated player in football history, Busquets has been the beating heart of over a decade of 'Tiki Taka' brilliance. To select anybody else here would be a crime against sport.

CM - Xavi

What an absolute magician. By the time Xavi entered the 2010s, he was some sort of stoic figure in the middle of the pitch, living and breathing football and creating from the midfield as if by osmosis.

CM - Andres Iniesta

Iniesta never winning the Ballon d'Or is nothing short of criminal. However, the fact the Spaniard still shone in the shadow of Messi is credit to his electric talent and the stardust in his boots.

RW - Lionel Messi

Duh. The greatest player in history has enjoyed an extraordinary decade, winning all the trophies we pinned on Pique but also collecting four Ballon d'Or trophies and five European Golden Shoes.

Oh, and he casually scored over 500 goals - 91 of which, by the way, came in 2012 alone.

CF - Luis Suarez

The goal tallies might have slowed in recent seasons but come on, Suarez is one of the deadliest strikers we've seen this decade and romped to an eye-watering 59 goals in the 2015-16 season. Prior to Suarez, David Villa is certainly worth an honourable mention.

LW - Neymar

More controversial than you might actually expect. We ummed and arred about selecting Pedro here because, in truth, it was that front three of 2011 that gelled most seamlessly with the midfield gold behind it.

But the numbers don't lie. The mercurial Brazilian wracked up an astonishing 105 goals in 186 appearances, as well as a glut of assists, in arguably the greatest attacking trident in history.
