Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most recognisable men on the planet.

The Juventus forward isn't just a superstar on the football pitch, he's also very successful off of it - especially on social media.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Ronaldo is Instagram's biggest earner and by some margin too.

Check out the top 10 list below, which also includes his rival Lionel Messi at second place:

Cristiano Ronaldo - £38.2m
Lionel Messi - £18.7m
Kendall Jenner - £12.7m
David Beckham - £8.6m
Selena Gomez - £6.4m
Neymar - £5.8m
Zlatan Ibrahimovic - £3.2m
Kylie Jenner - £3m
Ronaldinho - £2m
Khloe Kardashian - £975,000

CR7 has built himself such a brand, that he's dwarfed the earnings of every other 'Instagram influencer' in 2019.

In fact, he's earning so much money from social media, that his annual Juventus wage actually adds up to less.

Per Goal, Ronaldo earns a reported £26.39 million (€30m) from his contract - that's almost £12 million less than he makes from Instagram. Outrageous.

With his two paychecks combined, the Portuguese will have made over £64m in 2019 - and that's without his other sponsorships and endorsements.

Given how successful he is off the pitch, you could forgive Ronaldo for letting things slide a little when he does actually play. But at the age of 34, he's still breaking records.

Earlier this week, he became only the sixth footballer in history to score 700 goals. When reacting to that landmark, Ronaldo suggests that there's plenty more to come, too.

"The records come naturally, I don't look for them, the records look for me," he said following Portugal's defeat to Ukraine.

"I thank everyone: teammates, colleagues, coaches and everyone who helped Cristiano become the player that he is."

Ronaldo even refers to himself in third person these days, perhaps a true sign that he's made it right to the top - both in football and on Instagram.
