Chris Weidman's light heavyweight debut ended up like five of his last six fights - in absolute disaster. At one point in his career, the All-American Weidman was the next big thing in the middleweight division, and in 2013 he defeated the legend that is Anderson Silva. That seems a world away from the level he's competing at now, and he's been on a bit of a downward spiral ever since being knocked-out by Luke Rockhold in December 2015.To be blunt - it's not gone well for either man since that fight. Rockhold lost three out of his next four bouts and has no desire to return to action anytime soon, and Weidman boasted the exact same record.A move to the light heavyweight division though promised fresh challenges and an easier weight cut for Weidman, with multiple past surgeries playing a factor into his decision to move up.

He added another loss to his collection though as he came up against a top 205-pound contender and unbeaten star who goes by the name of Dominick Reyes.

Reyes had already taken down Jared Cannonier, Ovince Saint Preux and Volkan Oezdemir in the last 18 months to rise to number four in the rankings, and it took him less than two minutes to put away Weidman in Boston.

Weidman tried to control the fight early by grappling Reyes against the cage, but once he managed to cut himself free, the 'Devastator' needed only one counter punch to drop his opponent.

And he never got back up. Reyes launched his attack with a set of hammer fists and just like that, Weidman was out cold for the fifth time in six fights.

Reyes called out Jon Jones post-fight, a man that Weidman had a pop at in the pre-fight build-up for his failed drug tests in the past.

Jones is probably laughing to himself right now at the outcome of the fight - but what's next for Weidman?

He is now 35 years of age and not getting any younger, and a debut loss at light heavyweight puts him behind a host of names in a race for a title shot.

No-one would blame him if he walked away from the game - five KOs in four years is a lot to take.
