Manchester United enter their game against Liverpool on Sunday as underdogs.

It’s a sign of how far the club has fallen that even in front of their home crowd, they are expected to get beaten.

Part of that is, of course, down to Liverpool’s rise under Jurgen Klopp.

The Anfield club will go in search of a record-equalling 18th straight Premier League win when they face the Red Devils.g

They are a class unit and will be favourites in most games they play in this season.

But still, it’s strange to see Man United with odds of 4/1 to win a match at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is overseeing a miserable period in the club’s history but that’s not stopping him from cracking jokes at Liverpool’s expense.

Liverpool haven’t won the league since 1990, extending their lead over United for league titles to 18-7.

But the last of Sir Alex Ferguson’s triumphs in 2013 made it 20-18 in United’s favour, a score which remains the same today.

Liverpool are more likely to close the gap than United are to extending it but Solskjaer still poked fun at the Reds’ lengthy wait to win another title.

“I am sure we will bounce back and win the league,” Solskjaer said, per the Telegraph.

And I am sure it won’t be 30 years until the next Premier League that we do win.

Cheeky that, Ole.

It’s already six years since United’s last triumph, though, and Liverpool and Manchester City aren’t going away anytime soon.

Solskjaer’s side are already 15 points behind Liverpool after only eight league matches but the Norwegian believes victory over the league leaders could prove to be a turning point in their season.

“A good performance and result for us here can turn a season,” he added.

“It can change players’ confidence, players’ mood, their perception of what is good.”
