Thibaut Courtois has made 11 saves and conceded 12 goals for Real Madrid this season

Since leaving Chelsea in 2018, Thibaut Courtois has endured a difficult time at Real Madrid.

Last season saw the 27-year-old goalkeeper concede 36 goals in 27 La Liga appearances as he suffered a shaky start to life back in the Spanish capital.

Ahead of this campaign, though, Courtois would have been hoping to reignite his form at the Bernabeu.

However, it’s only gone from bad to worse.

That’s because Courtois has made 11 saves so far this season, conceding on 12 occasions meaning that he has let in a total of 84 goals in 60 games for the Spanish giants.

With such stats next to his name, it’s crazy to think that a year ago he was named the best goalkeeper in the world.

On top of that, Courtois also clinched the Golden Glove award for the 2017-18 Premier League season with Chelsea and for the World Cup whilst representing Spain.

He also accumulated 58 clean sheets in 154 appearances for the Blues and proved to be the hero on multiple occasions during his time in England.

RCD Mallorca v Real Madrid CF - La Liga

What a fall from grace.

Madrid, who have won three in their last five La Liga fixtures, have only kept three clean sheets so far this campaign.

However, they sit second in the standings and depending on other results, a win against Leganes in over a week’s time could see them leapfrog Barcelona at the peak.

First, though, attentions turn to the Champions League as they travel to Galatasaray as they aim to clinch their first win of the tournament.

However, they’ll have to pick themselves up after losing 1-0 away at RCD Mallorca yesterday.
