A point at Old Trafford is never a terrible result but Liverpool will feel disappointed that they failed to continue their 100% start to the Premier League campaign on Sunday. In truth, Manchester United performed with plenty of spirit and took the lead when Marcus Rashford tapped in Daniel James' excellent cross nine minutes before half-time.Jurgen Klopp's men dominated possession in the second period and equalised late on through substitute Adam Lallana after Andy Robertson's delivery went all the way across the penalty area. There was a lot of talk in the build-up to the clash regarding the contrasting fortunes of the bitter rivals - Liverpool are champions of Europe and United could've ended up in the relegation zone.Despite Man Utd's much-improved display in the 1-1 draw, they've still endured a poor start to the 2019-20 season and Liverpool supporters at the ground let them know about it.

The Man Utd-Liverpool rivalry

Liverpool have officially overtaken Man United as the most successful club in English football in recent months by winning the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.

The Red Devils' last trophy came in 2017, Jose Mourinho was sacked after a 3-1 loss at Liverpool in December 2018 and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has struggled after an incredible start in charge.

Liverpool fans chant 'Going down' at Old Trafford

With their team boasting a healthy lead at the top of the Premier League table and United very close to the relegation zone, the travelling Liverpool fans weren't afraid to rub it in at Old Trafford.

As noted by sports correspondent Rob Harris, Reds supporters chanted "Going down, going down, going down" at Man Utd before kick-off.

Liverpool fans repeated the song on numerous occasions during the match and, following Lallana's 85th-minute goal, they belted it out once more.

Of course, the chant is a bit tongue-in-cheek, however, Man Utd are in 13th place in the table and only two points above the relegation zone - a quarter of the way into the season.

Both clubs now look forward to trips in Europe - United head to Partizan in the Europa League while Liverpool visit Belgian side Genk in the Champions League.
