Manchester United are light in attack right now.

The Red Devils shipped Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan in the summer, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a dearth of attacking options.

Indeed, 18-year-old striker Mason Greenwood has seen more action this season as a result of the striker shortage.

United have scored 19 fewer goals than Man City and 11 fewer than Liverpool in the Premier League.

It’s no wonder they currently sit 13th in the table.

Solskjaer has already expressed his desire to sign a new forward in the January transfer window and his lack of options was discussed on Sky Sports after the 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.

Gary Neville and Graeme Souness were locked in a debate, with Souness telling Solskjaer to sign a striker.

“He had a goalscorer in Lukaku,” Neville responded. “He’s a proven goalscorer at the highest level. He didn’t want him.”

Souness retorted: “And that’s been a smart decision to start the season without a replacement for him, hasn’t it?”

The pair continued to air their views before Roy Keane made a quiet interjection.

“Go and get Kane. Just go and get Kane from Spurs. Easy,” the former Man United midfielder said, casually.

“You’ll be popular with Spurs fans,” Neville responded.

Keane then continued: “Just go and get him. What are you all staring at?

“They’re in disarray. Go and get him.”

Brilliant.

Never change, Roy.

There was, of course, once a time when Man United could quite literally ‘go and get’ whoever they wanted.

But things are different now. They’re not in the Champions League and plenty of other clubs - in England and across Europe - could be considered more appealing.

There isn’t a United fan in the country who wouldn’t want Kane leading their line.

But right now, they would do well to convince the England No.9 to quit Tottenham for a team sitting 13th in the Premier League.
