A match between Roman Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania has been floating around the WWE rumour mill for years, but it's never come into fruition.

While a match between the two seems unlikely, WWE has always pushed the phrase 'never say never' when it comes to legends like The Rock returning to the ring.

Roman Reigns recently spoke with Scott Fishman of TV Insider and one of the topics discussed was a possible future match against The People's Champion at WrestleMania.

Reigns said he was unsure about a singles match vs The Rock as he only wants the match to happen if the fans make it clear they want it.

He said: "It would have to be something the fans are just overwhelming about. They have to make it very clear this is the matchup they want. Then we have to take into account our family and the way that affects us and the way we'd tell our story.

"Right now, I just enjoy being around him. Being in the ring with him, we'd have to get to that point, and it would have to make sense for everyone.

"Right now, we're representing our family and the love and the bond we have throughout our cousins and this family tree, I think we have to hold that up as high as possible."

Reigns also said he believes they would have the right chemistry in the ring, but they would do better as a tag team.

A possible Reigns vs The Rock match has been floating around the rumour mill ever since The Great One came to the support of The Big Dog to help him win the Royal Rumble in 2015.

However, as previously mentioned, a match between the two is unlikely to happen as The Rock previously stated back in August that he’s retired from in-ring action.

Reigns knows that no matter when The People's Champion returns to WWE, he has no problem when it comes to connecting with the fans.

He said: "That's something he does that nobody else can compare to. He is just constantly out there and keeping his fans informed. It was great to be around him.

"It was motivating and inspiring and hopefully I can continue to push my star and elevate myself."
