Nicolas Pepe’s start to life at Arsenal has been difficult.

The Ivorian has struggled to justify his £72 million price tag since arriving from Lille.

It’s too early to consider Pepe a flop but there is a certain expectation that comes with such a hefty price tag.

And so far the 24-year-old, who has scored just one goal for the Gunners, is yet to meet it.

He had a moment to forget in the first half of Arsenal’s match against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

A nice move resulted in Sead Kolasinac whipping a delightful cross in from the left.

Pepe was there to meet the ball but he couldn’t make contact from just five yards out.

He has to be finishing that.

Football fans can be ferocious at times and Pepe will quickly begin to feel the pressure if he doesn’t find his feet soon.

There was more despair for the Gunners just minutes after Pepe's miss.

They fell behind to the Blades when Lys Mousset turned home from close range after Unai Emery's side failed to clear a corner.

Questions have been raised about Emery's suitability to the role but the Spaniard remains confident about his side.

“I’m speaking every day with Raul, Edu and the players," he said, per the Mirror.

“And I really think our way is going right and working well. And really now I’m very happy at the club.

"I’m really happy with the players. The last two, three, four weeks, every player has been working very well.

“In this way we can be positive and we can think we are going to do something important this year.
