Cristiano Ronaldo misses chance when it looked easier to score in Juventus vs Lokomotiv

Cristiano Ronaldo endured a frustrating night vs Lokomotiv Moscow

Juventus survived a huge scare against Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Old Lady were expected to easily dispatch of their Russian opponents at the Allianz Stadium.

But a shock was on the cards when the away side snatched the lead through Aleksey Miranchuk on the half-hour mark.

Lokmotiv Moscow held the lead going into the last 15 minutes but a quick-fire double from Paulo Dybala gave all three points to Juventus.

It was an uncharacteristically quiet night for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The legendary forward cut a frustrated figure for much of the game as he failed to make his mark.

Ronaldo is the greatest goalscorer in Champions League history but he had a moment to forget in the 20th minute.

Juan Cuadrado whipped in a beautiful ball in from the right-hand side and the 34-year-old had the easy task of tapping the ball in the net.

But he failed to keep his effort down and it went well over the bar.

That wasn't even close. Even the greatest make mistakes sometimes.

Fortunately for Ronaldo, the offside flag was raised as he was marginally offside, saving him from embarssment.

But the Portuguese striker wouldn't have known at the time and would have been glad when he saw that his effort wouldn't have counted anyway.

Ronaldo is now 34 and there have been rumours that he could hang up his boots soon.

But Ronaldo has insisted he has no desire to end his playing career just yet.

“Age is just a number. It does not mean that at 34, 35, 36, you are at the end of your career,” Ronaldo said before the clash vs Lokomotiv Moscow, per the Independent.

“I can show that with my performances, how I play, the way I play, the way I still feel good, sharp, thinking about the game, more mature.

“This makes the difference.”
