There isn’t another forward on the planet that Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool fans would swap Roberto Firmino for.The Brazilian has been worth his weight in gold for the Reds in recent years and is one-third of one of the most formidable front threes we’ve ever seen. His on-pitch understanding with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and the rest of his teammates makes him an invaluable player for the Merseyside outfit.Andy Robertson described Firmino as “world class” last month and most football fans were in complete agreement.“With his work-rate, his technique, his goals and his all-round play, I don’t think there’s anyone like him," the left-back said after a 3-0 win over Burnley. “People will say there are better strikers, but for me what he does is so important to our team. We’d be lost without him. He’s world class.”

Firmino caught the eye once again on Wednesday evening during Liverpool’s Champions League clash away at Genk.

The 28-year-old produced what would have been a contender for one of the greatest assists ever had Mane finished past Gaetan Coucke in the Genk goal.

A chipped rabona pass straight into Mane’s path. Unbelievable technique. It’s such a shame that it didn’t result in a goal.

It will go down as one of the great assists that never was.
