Conor McGregor's long-awaited return to UFC will come in 2020, it has been announced. The Notorious is currently holding a press conference in Moscow, Russia, and he has revealed that his return to the Octagon will come on January 18 in Las Vegas. The Irishman has not been in the cage since his submission defeat to long-term rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, but he hasn't been out of the headlines since then. However, it's mainly been for all the wrong reasons.Since the conclusion of the Khabib fight, it's been a bit of a downward spiral for McGregor. The brawl that ensued afterwards, which was mainly down to Khabib and his team, saw the UFC take action against both fighters, with hefty suspensions and fines both sent their way. Then, more and more headlines were written about McGregor and it seemed that controversy would follow him around.CCTV cameras caught him smashing a fan's phone to the ground after appearing to grow frustrated with the male. This was then followed by an incident at a bar in Ireland, where he punched an elderly gentleman for refusing to take a drink of his Proper Whiskey.Due to the incidents away from the Octagon, the Irishman has appeared in court over the past week or so, but that hasn't stopped him from holding a press conference in Russia, where he has confirmed when he plans to return.

Freelance MMA reporter Simon Head, who is live at the presser in Russia, tweeted the following: "Conor McGregor announces he’s returning to the Octagon on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. On the topic of his opponent he says: “Ask the UFC, because I do not give a f**k”."

Despite not knowing his opponent will be, one thing is for sure, Notorious is back and it's going to be must-see TV.

During the same presser, McGregor then laid out his plans for the future. He wants the winner of Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal, and then wants THAT rematch with Khabib.

It will be great to finally see the Irishman back where he belongs, inside the Octagon.

Let's hope that signals the end to all the controversy and negative headlines about one of UFC's finest ever competitors.
