Liverpool have been embroiled in a legal battle with kit supplier New Balance over the last few weeks following their decision not to renew their deal with the American supplier.

Oregon giants Nike swooped in with a massive offer which the Reds fully intended to accept until New Balance highlighted their right to match any new offer made to the club.

The club spent three days in court arguing that New Balance might be able to match the monetary numbers Nike were offering, but they simply could not keep up with the massive distribution channels Nike has at their disposal.

On top of that, Nike's planned use of celebrities such as Serena Williams, Drake and LeBron James to promote the Liverpool deal was a factor New Balance simply could not live up to.

As a result, the high court has today ruled in Liverpool's favour, meaning they are free to take up the contract with Nike.

While New Balance has made two of the club's best selling kits ever, Nike's vast influence in the Asian market made their offer far more attractive.

According to some reports, Liverpool and Nike have already agreed on their first design and the American manufacturer will surely be confirmed as the new kit supplier within the next few days.

This will be an added boost to the club who are already flourishing when it comes to off-field matters.

While the figure involved is less than what New Balance were already paying Liverpool, the 20% incentive on all net sales was a massively attractive factor for the Anfield side.

The deal is reported to be worth £30 million over the next five years.

It seems like only yesterday that the now European Champions were on the financial brink before Fenway Sports Group stepped into the breach.

Now, the future looks very bright for the Reds.

That front three are going to look mighty good with that famous swoosh on their chest.
