While AEW currently has the upper hand against WWE's NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars TV ratings, both sides are still firing shots at one another and it doesn't look like either side will stop anytime soon.

Both sides said before the Wednesday Night Wars began that they wouldn't make it about the competition to be the best, but more about producing the best show they can possible for the fans.

However, both brands have still found the time to take potshots at each other over the past couple of months, and CM Punk believes AEW would be doing a disservice to themselves if they don't stop soon.

Speaking to Screen Rants to promote his movie Girl on the Third Floor, Punk said he wants AEW to stop talking about WWE and focus on what they're doing as he thinks the shots 'lessens and cheapens what they are doing'.

He said: "Yeah. I think AEW needs to focus on themselves and stop talking about WWE. Cody and The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, all those guys have something great going on.

"I just think it lessens and cheapens what they are doing when they constantly attack WWE.

"There hasn’t been an alternative to WWE in so very long, and I think they do a disservice to themselves when they’re trying to be the alternative but constantly bring up WWE.

"But I understand, when people ask you the questions during the interviews you have to answer them. But that’s just part of life. You have to learn how to navigate that.

"I would like them to just try to focus on their product and building it up and making it better. I think that would benefit all the fans."

Punk is right that neither WWE or AEW needs to fire shots at each other, and potentially it could benefit AEW in the long run if they do all they can to disassociate themselves from their rivals.

However, the shots fired between AEW and WWE is what makes the Wednesday Night Wars even more exciting for wrestling fans, the true benefactors.

It can be a bit frustrating when the shot is just for a cheap pop, but overall, the wrestling in the ring will determine the outcome of the Wednesday Night Wars.

AEW's fate is in their own hands and, if you go by the TV ratings, they're smashing all expectations.
