Jake Hager may have made a big impact by debuting in All Elite Wrestling earlier this month, but he's very much a two-sport man these days.

After departing WWE for pastures new a couple of years ago, Hager decided to train towards a career in MMA, with reputable promotion Bellator offering him fights.

He would follow the likes of fellow wrestlers Bobby Lashley and Batista into cage-fighting, but the quality of his first two opponents - J.W. Kiser and T.J. Jones - left a lot to be desired.

His opponent at Bellator 231 last night - Anthony Garrett - looked in a bit better shape, but it was expected to be another win for Hager on his path to becoming a champion in both AEW and Bellator.

Of course he aligned himself with Chris Jericho on the opening episode of Dynamite, and Y2J ended up naming his faction the 'Inner Circle', and whilst Jericho wasn't present in Uncasville last night, the rest of the group was - they even got a picture with Batista!

With Santana, Ortiz and Sammy Guevara supporting him ringside, surely Hager could bring the victory home with him and take his MMA record to 3-0.

It didn't happen though - the fight ended in a No Contest due to purely accidental happenings.

Less than two minutes into the fight, Hager tried to knee Garrett in the mid-riff, but ended up catching him square between the legs instead.

The referee and medical staff both deemed Garrett unable to continue in the fight, but it was called off instead of DQing Hager, meaning his undefeated record stays intact.

It certainly scuppers his progression in MMA, but at least it's not a loss on his record.

The focus for Hager must now be on AEW, considering he hasn't taken part in a match yet.

As the hired muscle of the Inner Circle, he will be required to compete at some point, and who knows, one day he may target Jericho's AEW World Championship.
