The Polish Ekstraklasa certainly isn’t the most-watched competition in world football.

Lech Poznan versus Zaglebie Lubin was never going to draw international attention, particularly with both teams struggling in the middle section of the league table.

The home side might be familiar to some given they’re a regular feature in the Europa League, but the same can’t be said for their opponents on Friday evening.

Regardless, the Polish top-flight is shaping up to be an extremely competitive campaign with both Lech Poznan and Zaglebie Lubin - ranked eighth and ninth respectively - only six points behind leaders Pogon Szczecin.

So, there was plenty at stake when the two sides met at the Stadion Miejski for their 13th match of the season.

Jakub Tosic put Zaglebie ahead in the 24th minute, prodding home a flicked pass to finish off what looked like a corner routine that came straight from the training ground.

The visitors had their chances to score again before the break, the best of them falling to Joao Amaral - who sliced the ball wide after finding himself in space on the edge of the box.

Zaglebie did double their advantage shortly after the hour mark, though, as Damjan Bohar snuck in behind the Poznan back four and beat goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart.

With breathing space secured, Martin Sevela’s men seemed to take their foot off the gas for the remaining 30 minutes.

The hosts failed to capitalise until deep into injury time, but their consolation goal was well worth the wait.

Poznan won a corner in the 94th minute, and instead of aimlessly swinging the ball into the penalty area, a drilled delivery reached Christian Gytkjaer.

The Danish striker executed a perfect back-heeled volley into the inner side netting of the far post.

That’s got to be a contender for the 2020 FIFA Puskas Award.

No doubt Gytkjaer would’ve preferred to rescue a point or even all three for his side, but that’s a goal he’ll never forget.
