We need to talk about Christian Pulisic.

Just a few months into his Chelsea career, serious questions were beginning to be asked of the American and it seemed as though Frank Lampard had real doubts about the winger.

But he was given the nod for Saturday night's clash with Burnley and it proved to be an inspired decision with Pulisic producing an incredible hat-trick.

Despite not being known for his goal-scoring record, Pulisic was lethal in front of goal and opened his Chelsea account with a fine solo effort from Matthew Lowton's mistake.

His second strike, arriving just on the eve of half-time, was similarly impressive in its individual nature and the subsequent right-footed shot was helped into the net by a deflection.

Pulisic's Burnley masterclass

And the treble-sealing effort came after the break with Pulisic - on his own admission - scoring something of a collector's item by converting a header.

So, it will come as little surprise that the 21-year-old collected the Man of the Match award and it wasn't just his goals that caught the eye at Turf Moor.

For all the criticism aimed at Pulisic earlier in the season, his brilliant creativity had always been apparent and his interchange with the Chelsea attack was superb this weekend.

Pulisic's individual highlights

It all made for a performance that suggests Pulisic can become the Eden Hazard replacement he's been billed to be in the future. Baby steps, sure, but the signs are there.

And the proof is in his individual highlights.

A compilation, originally created by YouTuber 'AM Sport', has emerged after the game and showcases all of Pulisic's best moments from his standout showing in a Chelsea shirt.

So, sit back and enjoy four minutes of Pulisic taking the Clarets to the cleaners:

Ladies and gentleman, Pulisic has arrived.

Sure, the rebuttal of rival fans will go something to the tune of 'it's only Burnley', but plenty of stronger Premier League sides would have had problems with that performance.

And nobody was pretending that Pulisic would be an instant swap for Hazard, rather that he would evolve into the star man at Stamford Bridge over the coming seasons.

Lampard on Pulisic's display

"I’m absolutely delighted for him," Lampard told Chelsea's website. "There’s been a lot of talk around Christian because of the big price tag, the fact he’s a star in his country and captain of the USA national team.

"I know his back-story and the pressures of a move like that. I also know that he’s played for his country throughout the summer and only had one week’s break.

"I’ve tried to deal with it in the way I see best, which is to give him minutes. He has played games this season already but I’ve also got competition in that area."
