The Manchester United rebuild isn't finished, it seems, and there are plans for further spending in January.

United spent big in the summer, of course, bringing in three players.

Daniel James arrived early in the window for a fairly modest £15m before the club spent big on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

Untied spent £130m on the latter two and while that was somewhat offset by Romelu Lukaku's £75m sale to Internazionale, it was still a big outlay.

Despite that, United are 15th as of Sunday morning.

More is needed if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to be the one to turn things around and that will surely come in the form of transfers.

And according to the Mirror, Ed Woodward has greenlit a big budget to sign players - and United know who they want.

Soslkjaer and co. want to raid the Bundesliga for Thomas Muller and Kai Havertz with their £125m budget.

Muller, the bigger name of the two, isn't currently in the team at Bayern Munich.

United will see their chance to sign a player they wanted six years ago - but that isn't necessarily a good thing.

Muller is now 31 years old and on his way down, which is hardly the best sign when he's struggling for games.

Havertz is a different case - he's very much a player on the up.

And the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder would certainly be a wonderful signing for United and fit nicely into their midfield.

But he's surely take up nearly all the £125m budget, given the number of other clubs linked with moves.

Every big club in Europe is looking at the 20-year-old after his stellar campaign last season.

United have plans for January but they're hardly sure things.

One player may not have the impact they hope and the other will be difficult just to sign.

But the way this season is going, they need them to go their way.
