Granit Xhaka was appointed Arsenal captain last month - but his future at the club might be in doubt after he told the fans to ‘f*** off’ while walking off the pitch after being substituted against Crystal Palace.
The Swiss midfielder was subbed off for Bakayo Sako shortly after the Gunners had thrown away a two-goal lead.
Early goals from Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz had put Arsenal 2-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes, but a Luka Milivojević penalty and a second-half goal from Jordan Ayew put Palace back on level terms.
Unai Emery reacted by sending on Sako in place of Xhaka, who was booed off by the Arsenal fans.
The Gunners faithful have given Xhaka plenty of stick over the past couple of seasons but today may prove to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Xhaka was booed as he trudged off the pitch and reacted by throwing up his arms and shouting ‘f*** off!’ to the crowd several times.
He slapped hands with Emery before making his way off down the tunnel.
Watch the extraordinary incident here…
Arsenal thought they'd won the match 3-2 when Sokratis scored in the 85th minute, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Xhaka now.
How will the fans respond to this incident? Will he be forced to apologise? Should Arsenal fans take some of the blame? Is this Emery's fault?
The fallout from this incident could be big.
The game ended 2-2 but Arsenal remain fifth in the Premier League table on 16 points.
