Martin Tyler is one of the greatest commentators of all time and certainly the best of the Premier League era. However, a lot of Liverpool fans (especially those on social media) seems to think the 74-year-old has some sort of vendetta against their club. For whatever reason, a lot of Reds believe that Tyler dislikes Liverpool and claim this is evident by his commentary.Following Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, Tyler (who actually supports non-league Woking FC) was the top trend on Twitter. They were unimpressed with his commentary yet again and were particularly angry with comments made about Mohamed Salah.

Tyler, per the Liverpool Echo, said: “Mo Salah has been known to go to ground in the opposition penalty area…”

Now, let’s be honest: that’s not untrue, is it?

Gary Neville, the former Manchester United captain, was on co-commentary duty for Sky Sports alongside Tyler - and he also managed to anger Liverpool supporters for similar reasons.

Neville described Salah as being “theatrical” despite staying on his feet inside the box and getting a shot off on goal.

Liverpool fans were left baffled that Neville criticised Salah for staying on his feet yet said nothing when Harry Kane went to ground after being ‘fouled’ by Dejan Lovren.

You can watch the two different incidents and Neville’s commentary here…

A lot of Liverpool fans took to social media to vent their anger towards Tyler and Neville for their commentary during the Spurs game.

Here are just a handful of tweets we’ve picked out…

It must be said that both Tyler and Neville are excellent professionals who know their stuff.

Neville would obviously prefer to see Liverpool lose every match but the 44-year-old has praised the Reds time and time again during the Klopp era. He always gives credit where it’s due.

And the same can be said of Tyler, who has always conducted himself with the utmost professionalism during his illustrious career.
