There were ugly scenes in Tuscany on Sunday night as Lazio stole a last gasp win over their hosts, Fiorentina.

With the sides level pegging at 1-1 since the half-time break, Ciro Immobile popped up to nod home a controversial winner after Fiorentina appealed for what looked like a foul in the build-up.

It did not go down well with the home side who were left fuming by the decision - and their night only got worse when, minutes later, Luca Ranieri was shown a second yellow for a hand-ball in the box.

The subsequent penalty was missed, but in the end, there was not enough time for Fiorentina to find an equaliser.

The result leaves Fiorentina languishing in ninth on the table, 11 points behind leaders Juventus.

For a certain Franck Ribery though, it was a particularly irksome night.

Having set up Federico Chiesa in the 27th minute, Ribery continued to carve out chances for his team.

However, it was all for nought in the end and the Frenchman let his frustrations show after the final whistle.

The 36-year-old angrily approached one of the assistant referees and instead of the usual verbal volley, physically shoved him not once, but twice.

Awful behaviour - especially from one of the greats of the modern game.

Unsurprisingly, Ribery was shown a red card by the referee for his actions.

The Frenchman could find himself in hot water now and it would be no surprise if he is slapped with a heavy fine and ban

Fiorentina travel to Sassuolo on Wednesday as they look to force their way back into the running for a European place.

They will most likely have to do without the former Bayern Munich winger though, who surely faces a lengthy ban for his post-game antics.

You just can't fathom what was running through his head.

Absolute madness.
