Boxing fans have been debating a heavyweight battle between Wladimir Klitschko and Mike Tyson in his prime.

The argument has been sparked after Deontay Wilder claimed he could knock out Tyson at his peak.

On paper, both fighters can lay claim to a very even fight.

Tyson is considered as one of the greatest and most explosive fighters of his era. He was undisputed world heavyweight champion and holds the record as the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title, aged just 20 years old.

Klitschko is also considered as one of the greats in boxing.

He held the world heavyweight championship twice, including the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, Ring Magazine and lineal titles. He also has the record of the longest cumulative heavyweight title reign.

On paper, their records are very similar. Tyson was involved in 58 fights, with 50 wins and 44 by KO. He lost six times in his career versus Klitschko who has fought 69 times, had 64 wins, with 53 by KO and five defeats.

Fans have taken to boxingforum24 with their viewpoints.

One wrote: “Huge size difference between those two. But also skills difference where Tyson is much better boxer who can actually box , throw combinations and has good head movement."

Another Tyson fan added: "Tyson would be Wlad’s nightmare someone who can get inside past the jab and land shots to head and body and there were big shots as well. Prime Tyson KO 4."

Sadly, fans will never be able to see these iconic fighters in the ring, but given both their high amount of knock outs, it would be a brutal fight.
