For as long as we can remember, La Liga has been dominated by two teams.

Real Madrid and Barcelona's duopoly over the domestic title has lasted for nearly two decades.

14 of the last 15 La Liga's have been won by the El Classico rivals - with Barca securing ten of those.

However, this season may just be the season where those two powerhouses don't have it all their own way.

After ten games, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid top the standings, with both sides having to look up at lowly Granada.

Granada's 2-0 win over Barca earlier sparked a mini-phenomenon and their form has continued apace since then.

The newly-promoted side are punching well above their weight and, with a one-point lead at the top of the Spanish game, could be about to embark on a Leicester-esque adventure.

It is an incredible achievement for a club of Granada's standing, especially when you consider their meagre wage bill in comparison to their competitors.

Due to league regulations, Granada are only allowed to spend €35.6 million in wages.

On the other hand, Barcelona can freely spend a monumental €671 million on player wages, with Real footing an annual bill of €641 million.

In fact, Granada's entire annual wage bill would not be enough to pay Barca talisman Lionel Messi, who earns €40 million per annum.

Staggering - if that fact doesn't aptly put Granada's incredible start into perspective, nothing will.

El Graná last topped the highest division in the land way back in 1973/74 - a title eventually won by, you guessed it, Barcelona.

Many are expecting Granada's form to tail off as the season wears on, but, for now, they are making a mighty fine fist of it.

Can they do a Leicester?

Probably not, but, at 500/1 with some bookies, it might not be the worst idea to have a little dabble.

Stranger things have happened.
