If you haven’t seen Lionel Messi in the flesh yet, do yourself a favour and make it happen before he retires. The Barcelona legend puts on exhibitions at the Camp Nou most weeks and he was at it again against Real Valladolid on Tuesday night.Messi provided a wonderful assist for Arturo Vidal just before the half-hour mark and then scored the 50th free-kick of his illustrious career five minutes later. He then produced a sumptuous nutmeg shortly afterwards to delight the Camp Nou crowd.Barcelona took an early lead when Clement Lenglet popped up with a rare goal in the second minute of the match. However, Valladolid got themselves back on level terms through Kiko Olivas in the 15th minute.

But Barça, as has happened so many times since 2004, were inspired by Messi, who masterminded his side’s second and third goals of the evening.

He provided an inch-perfect pass for Vidal to latch on to as Barça re-took the lead…

And then banged in another unstoppable free-kick…

Is there a better free-kick taker on the planet?

He wasn’t finished there, either. Messi then humiliated Óscar Plano, Real Valladolid’s No. 10, with a cheeky nutmeg…

And then did the same to Sergi Guardiola… (click play on the black video window).

It’s like he’s playing a totally different sport to everybody else at times.

Make the most of the GOAT while you still can.

UPDATE

He then provided another gorgeous assist for Suarez to make it 5-1...

An outrageous individual performance.
