What a player Kaka was.

The Brazilian was an elite playmaker and one of only eight players to have won the World Cup, Champions League and Ballon d’Or.

“He’s the complete player,” is how Pele described after he was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2007.

And he was. He could do it all and watching him glide forward with the ball was a delight.

"For two, maybe three seasons [at AC Milan] he was the best player in the world,” Ronaldinho said about Kaka. “There was nothing he couldn’t do."

He’s also a great figure off the pitch. Kaka became the youngest ambassador of the UN World Food Programme in 2004 and was listed by Time as one of the world’s most influential people in 2008 and 2009.

He was also the first sportsperson to amass 10 million followers on Twitter, Kaka’s legacy extends to more than what he accomplished on the pitch.

Kaka retired in 2017 after finishing his career in MLS but he’s still making appearances in charity games.

And one incident during a recent charity game between Brazil and Israel just highlighted the attacking midfielder’s popularity.

Kaka was on the ball when the referee brought the game to a halt for no apparent reason.

She then booked Kaka - and proceeded to get a selfie with him!

Fair play. The referee will probably never get a better opportunity to get a picture with Kaka, so she jumped at the chance.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid star was playing in a friendly that featured a star-studded Brazil line-up.

Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo, Cafu and Bebeto all appeared for Brazil.

The contest finished 4-2 to Brazil, with Bebeto, Ronaldinho, Kaka and Amoroso grabbing the goals.

As for the referee, she got a picture with Kaka that she’s probably already had framed.
