Unai Emery is under-fire at Arsenal.

The Spanish manager had a promising first season at the club but has been unable to build on that success.

Emery spent £137m in the summer but his side have struggled this term.

Following their dismal 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on the weekend, the Gunners are now fifth having accumulated 16 points from their opening 10 games.

Their struggles have led to many Arsenal fans wanting Emery to leave his post as manager.

But who could possibly replace him?

There are a number of high-profile managers currently out of a job at the moment, including Massimiliano Allegri and Laurent Blanc.

And a certain Jose Mourinho is also currently unemployed.

The Portuguese manager is without a job since leaving Manchester United last December.

Mourinho has had job offers in the past but has turned them down as he waits for the perfect opportunity.

And it appears that he has his eyes on the Arsenal job should Emery leave his post.

That's because ESPN have stated that Mourinho would be interested in becoming the new Arsenal boss.

Mourinho has already won major trophies at both Chelsea and Manchester United and the opportunity to win more silverware at a third English club appeals to him.

But they claim that Mourinho would need assurances from the board that funds were available to allow a serious challenge at silverware.

Wow. Arsenal currently have no plans to get rid of Emery but that may change soon should their results continue to slide.

And if they do get rid of him, they will have a great chance to replace him with a truly world-class manager.

He would, of course, be a massively controversial appointment.

Mourinho had multiple run-ins with Arsene Wenger during his time at Chelsea and Man United.

The majority of Arsenal fans therefore don't have the highest opinion of the 56-year-old.

But, while Mourinho may not play the most exciting football, he does guarantee results.

And that's exactly what Arsenal need at the moment. Mourinho is a serial winner and would no doubt be able to make the Gunners challenge for the Premier League title once again.

Arsenal fans may be against him becoming the manager right now, but if he came in and transformed the club's fortunes, he'll win over his doubters very quickly.
