The year is 2030, Sergio Ramos' hair is all gone and he's lost a lick of pace, but, somehow, the man is still battering opponents and scoring goals.

Love him or hate him, you simply can't deny that Ramos is a remarkable player.

The Real Madrid captain has been getting the business done at the top level for an age now and shows no signs of slowing down.

He is a true wizard when it comes to football's dark arts, and is not shy to do whatever it takes to win football games.

When Madrid went and won three Champions League titles on the bounce, it was largely due to Ramos' sly work at the back.

He is a brilliant defender and leader, and most fans would admit to secretly wanting him in their team.

And, just when you start to run out of ways to praise his defending, you come across a stat that highlights his incredible goalscoring record.

Ramos has always been a towering presence from set-pieces and has even become Madrid's penalty taker in recent years.

In January he scored his 100th professional goal - a staggering statistic for a defender.

Now, he has notched up another remarkable record by equalling Lionel Messi's run of scoring in 16 consecutive La Liga seasons.

Incredible.

It all started way back in 2004/05 when he netted for Sevilla against Real Sociedad and his penalty against Leganes last night saw his unreal run continue.

He has scored some immensely valuable goals over the years and is so much more than just a defender.

Ramos will be desperate to haul Madrid back into contention for major titles once again, with the club struggling to emulate the glory of the not-so-distant past.

If he keeps banging the goals in, Los Blancos might just stand a chance.
