The Carabao Cup is down to the last eight after a manic night of midweek football.

Manchester United edged past Chelsea thanks to a Marcus Rashford howitzer while Liverpool snuck in via a penalty shootout after a ten goal thriller with Arsenal.

Manchester City, Leicester, Everton, Colchester United, and Oxford United booked their spots earlier in the week with the draw for the final eight conducted this morning. The Manchester clubs will be smiling smugly after United drew Colchester and City drew Oxford - while Liverpool face the prospect of a tricky trip to Aston Villa.Leicester will play Everton in the other all Premier League clash.

However, in the immediate aftermath of the draw, many were questioning how Manchester City - arguably the best team in the country - always manage to get such easy draws.

City have cruised to the last few domestic cup final's thanks to a bizarre run of blind luck in the draws that has seen them pitted against lower league opposition more often than not.

And, while they may not have gone on to win it, they have also had dream scenarios handed to them in the Champions League.

Check out the tweet below that highlights City's astonishing luck when it comes to cup draws.

The fact that they somehow managed to draw Oxford when there were five other Premier League clubs in the hat, just further proves our point.

Pep Guardiola's side can beat anyone, there is no doubting that, but it wouldn't be the worst thing if they were made to work for their place in a cup final.

Oxford could still turn the world upside down and cause a massive upset, but, odds are that City will be in the draw for the semi-finals too.

Is another Carabao Cup triumph on the horizon?

You wouldn't bet against it.
