Liverpool's fixture list over the festive period is set to be hectic.

After beating Arsenal on penalties in the Carabao Cup last night, Jurgen Klopp now has another game added to his packed schedule.

The Reds will be travelling to the FIFA World Club championships at the time when the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup are to be played.

So how will Liverpool cope? Klopp has already threatened to pull his side out of the competition if a solution is not found.

But one may have been found and it would create footballing history.

According to the Telegraph, Liverpool have spoken to the EFL and are considering playing two games, with two different teams, on the same night.

A team of youth players would play Villa on December 17 or 18, while the senior squad would be out in Qatar partaking in the Fifa World Club championships semi-final on the 18th.

It would mean Liverpool playing two senior fixtures on two different continents a maximum of 24 hours apart.

However, there would be a number of potential complications.

Firstly, Liverpool would need 36 players in order to fill both squad rosters. Then, a decision would have to be made as to who would manage the Reds in the Carabao Cup.

The most logical solution looks to be having the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Villa rescheduled to January 8.

That date was set to be for the first leg of the semi-final stage of the tournament, but the winner out of Villa and Liverpool would commence their semi-final on January 28 or 29.

The second leg of the tie would then be completed in February before the final on March 1.

However, there is still a possibility of seeing two Liverpool senior teams lineup in different continents in December.

If that does happen, modern football will have officially peaked.
