Do you ever get the feeling there's no justice in the world?

The likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Gianfranco Zola probably do.

There have been some truly great players who have graced the Premier League down the years without ever claiming its ultimate prize: that sought-after, ever-so elusive winners' medal.

On the flip side, there are others who have one glistening away on their mantelpiece in large part because they were in the right place at the right time.

Of course, having been on the books at Manchester United or, more recently, Manchester City helps a great deal.

Even so, there are some footballers of whom it's hard to believe they have more to show for their time in England's top flight than Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale and co.

To clarify, this list only includes players who have played in enough games to qualify for a medal.

Darren Ferguson | Manchester United | Appearances: 15

We've all played with someone who only got in the team because their Dad was the manager...

Adam Johnson | Manchester City | Appearances: 10 (16)

The 2011/12 season was the start of something special at Manchester City. Not for Johnson, however, who only started 10 games. Within four years, he was in prison. Let's move on.

Nathan Dyer | Leicester City | Appearances: 0 (12)

When the only two permanent clubs on your CV are Southampton and Swansea, you're probably not winning the Premier League. By a stroke of luck, though, Dyer spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Leicester and made 12 substitute appearances. Timed that well, didn't he?

Jérémie Aliadière | Arsenal | Appearances: 3 (7)

Many top strikers have come and gone at the Emirates without winning the title. There was Robin Van Persie, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will likely be another. And then there is Aliadiere, who is not just a Premier League winner, but one of the Invincibles at that.

Ritchie de Laet | Leicester City | Appearances: 15

The defender probably thought his dreams of lifting silverware were over when he left Man United. How wrong he was, as it was at the King Power that he enjoyed his first taste of success.

Kieran Richardson | Manchester United | Appearances: 8 (7)

We all remember him being lifted into the air on the final day of the season, but that was at West Brom when he kept them up. It turns out it wasn't his greatest achievement either, as he won the league with United.

Tom Cleverley | Manchester United | Appearances: 18 (4)

Ah yes, Alex Ferguson's final season and a United midfield brimming with talent. Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs. Cleverley had a lot to compete with but he made a fair few appearances. He's now at Watford.

Luis Boa Morte | Arsenal | Appearances: 4 (11)

The attacking midfielder arrived from Sporting Lisbon at the start of the 1997/98 campaign. It didn't work out. That's not to say he wasn't cut out for the top flight, though, as he had a decent spell with Fulham years later.

Jack Rodwell | Manchester City | Appearances: 5

The former England international recently failed a trial at Roma as he remains without a club. Many feel his big mistake was leaving Everton, where he excelled, and going to Manchester City - but at least he got a winners' medal out of it.

Luke Chadwick | Manchester United | Appearances: 6 (10)

Chadwick is definitely a contender among the most obscure players to win the league. A fair portion of his career was spent with clubs like MK Dons, Cambridge City, finally retiring after leaving Soham Town Rangers.

At least all these players have something to tell the grandkids.
