Kylian Mbappe has already achieved so much during his career and hasn’t even turned 21 yet.The Paris Saint-Germain and France striker is one of the most exciting footballers to emerge in years and has the potential to establish his status as one of the best players of his generation.Mbappe has already won multiple team and individual awards, including three Ligue 1 titles (one with AS Monaco and two with PSG) and the FIFA World Cup with his country. The 20-year-old is currently the most expensive player in world football, according to Transfermarkt, valued at £180 million.“In a hypothetical transfer, he's the most expensive player in football now,” Jose Mourinho said of Mbappe earlier this year. “In terms of his qualities, [he is] unbelievable. One word is enough. It means everything.”

But can we call Mbappe a true great if he spends his career in Ligue 1 - the competition regarded as the weakest of Europe’s top five leagues?

He’s streets ahead of most players in the league, as he proved last season by scoring 33 goals in 29 games.

Mbappe netted his fifth league goal of the current campaign during Friday evening’s 2-1 defeat to Dijon, opening the scoring with a brilliant finish from an Angel Di Maria assist in the 19th minute.

But the French youngster went viral on social media thanks to another piece of individual brilliance.

Mbappe showed off his speed, determination and quality by executing a perfect slide to keep the ball in play. He then quickly got to his feet and nutmegged Dijon’s Ngonda Muzinga before being brought down by another defender.

Mbappe undoubtedly has the quality to play for any club on the planet and every manager would love to add him to their ranks.

But he remains a PSG player for the time being and will be desperate to help the club become European champions for the first time this season.

As for the future, it would be fascinating to see him plying his trade in La Liga or the Premier League one day.

How much longer we need to wait before that happens remains to be seen.
