The waiting is almost over as UFC's most anticipated card of the year is just a few hours away.MMA's biggest promotion rolls into New York City once again and Madison Square Garden will play host to a bout between two extremely dangerous welterweights. It is the UFC's 500th live event in its history and no doubt Nate Diaz facing off against Jorge Masvidal is going to have the world watching. Both men have plenty of losses on their record, but after consecutive knockouts against Darren Till and Ben Askren, Masvidal has become a big deal in MMA.His last victory over Askren was the fastest in UFC history, just five seconds it took for him to win, and he takes on a rejuvinated Diaz who got past Anthony Pettis on his return in August after three years away.

It's such a big fight that even The Rock has got himself involved in proceedings, promising to wrap the 'Baddest Motherf***er Belt' around the waist of Masvidal should he win.

There's one man who isn't impressed with the build-up to the biggest fight of the year though - and that's Conor McGregor.

McGregor, who yesterday pleaded guilty to the assault of a man in a Dublin pub in April, kept a close eye on the weigh-in and played down the opinion that both men are 'bad motherf***ers'.

Maybe McGregor is feeling a bit left out in the UFC's big moment of 2019, but his return is imminent, with a January 18 date pencilled in.

For now, the Irishman will be sticking to Twitter to broadcast his views on the sport, and he went even further with his criticism of Masvidal and Diaz for being too pally with each other.

It was a far cry from the antagonising tactics that McGregor normally uses when he's facing someone - not every fight has to have bad blood.

UFC fans are expecting something exciting, and it doesn't mean the fight is any less important because Masvidal and Diaz seem to respect each other.

Watch out for any McGregor comments post-fight, as it could get tasty...
