Liverpool's unbeaten domestic run continued with a stunning late comeback against Aston Villa. They actually went behind to Mahmoud Trezeguet's first-half strike, before late goals from Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane secured three points. But, as you can probably guess, the game didn't pass without some serious VAR controversy. Roberto Firmino thought he'd levelled things at Villa Park, but his goal was reviewed and disallowed, even though the angle appeared to show that he was onside. The Premier League's official Twitter account attempted to clarify the decision, but that didn't stop fans from criticising the technology."Liverpool's Roberto Firmino was flagged offside before putting the ball in the net against Aston Villa and the decision was confirmed by VAR," the statement read. "The red line signifies Firmino and was aligned to his armpit, which was marginally ahead of the last Villa defender." Check out the controversial angle below: After seeing a goal chalked off, Liverpool managed to find two late goals that stood through Robertson and Mane. The winner came in added time and could signify that Jurgen Klopp's side are champions in the making, given how they managed to fight back so strong. Many teams would have let their heads drop, but not Liverpool.

The Reds are still six points clear at the top of the league, but Manchester City are keeping pace.

Pep Guardiola's side beat Southampton at the Etihad in another 3pm kick-off. James Ward-Prowse actually scored the opening goal of the game and the Saints took a surprise lead into half-time.

Sergio Aguero grabbed an equaliser after the break and Kyle Walker popped up with a late, 86th minute winner.

Liverpool supporters won't care about that though, because their late, late comeback will have many believing that this really could be their year.
