Manchester City and Liverpool have been the best teams in England for a couple of years now and Saturday's matches proved exactly why. Both teams showcased the mentality of champions as they came from behind to earn all three points with 2-1 victories - Man City against Southampton and Liverpool at Aston Villa. The dramatic results mean Jurgen Klopp's men maintain their six-point advantage at the top heading into the massive clash with the defending champions at Anfield next weekend.Sergio Aguero and Kyle Walker scored the goals for City, while Liverpool got out of jail thanks to Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane's 10th goal in just 15 appearances this season.Mane's prowess in front of goal seems to be getting better and better, however Man City manager Pep Guardiola has subtly called him out for diving eight days before the sides meet.

Mane booked for diving v Villa

Mahmoud Trezeguet put Aston Villa in front in the 21st-minute and, as Liverpool searched for an equaliser, Mane threw himself to the ground inside the penalty area.

The Senegal forward's exaggerated fall resulted in him getting a yellow card for simulation by the referee, even though right-back Frederic Guilbert may have stood on his foot.

Mane's 94th-minute header gave him the last laugh at Villa Park, however Guardiola brought up his reputation regarding diving after City 2-1 Southampton and Villa 1-2 Liverpool.

Guardiola speaks about Mane

Speaking to the BBC, the Spanish coach said: "Sometimes he (Mane) is diving, sometimes he has this talent to score incredible goals in the last minute."

Guardiola, who's managed Man City to the title in the last two seasons, continued: "He's a talent. Next week we go to Anfield to try to play them."

So, Pep took a little dig at one member of Liverpool's devastating front three but plenty of Reds fans think it's a sign of how concerned the 48-year-old is with their team.

"We are in his head" - check out some of the reaction below:

Before Liverpool welcome Man City to Merseyside, the two teams have Champions League assignments against Genk and Atalanta respectively.
