The most anticipated MMA fight of the year ended in controversial circumstances, as Jorge Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz.Thousands of fans flocked to New York City to see two world class welterweights battle it out in a bid to be crowned the 'Baddest Motherf**ker' of the UFC, and even The Rock came out to play for the big main event. The bout got off to a hot start as Masvidal knocked Diaz down in round one with an elbow strike and a head kick, with Gamebred toying with his opponent on the mat before the referee let the Stockton Slapper get back to his feet.Round two saw a similar path being taken, with Diaz dropped yet again by Masvidal, this time via a right hand, but Masvidal still couldn't find enough to end the fight early.Diaz was getting into the fight in round three, but just as he was about to start round four, the official UFC doctor waved the fight off in favour of 'Gamebred'.

Diaz's cut didn't look too bad after being treated, but the official saw it differently, and it was a decision that was loudly booed by UFC fans inside Madison Square Garden.

Masvidal and Diaz both told Joe Rogan post-fight that they'd be running the fight back in the near future, possibly in Las Vegas, and the fans around the world deserve a five-round fight, or at least a proper decision between the two.

It's not the way that Masvidal wanted to win, but he did cause significant damage to the face of his opponent.

The problem is that NYSAC seem more willing to end fights early as opposed to other places - for example in Las Vegas the fight would have carried on.

It's not like Diaz hasn't completed bouts with worse injuries either - so you can understand why UFC fans are fuming at the decision.
