90% of Arsenal supporters want Unai Emery sacked after disappointing Wolves draw

Unai Emery

Arsenal squandered yet another lead on Saturday afternoon as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who captained the side in the abscence of the under-fire Granit Xhaka, gave Arsenal the lead but Raul Jimenez equalised 14 minutes from time.

The result leaves the Gunners fifth in the Premier League, which isn't a terrible position at this stage, however plenty of supporters have had enough of manager Unai Emery.

The Spaniard has been overly cautious in his approach at times this campaign, his team don't create a huge amount of clear chances in matches and results are starting to suffer.

With that said, a Twitter poll conducted on Saturday evening amassed over 43,000 votes and suggests that a whopping 90% of Arsenal fans want Emery to be sacked right now.

Emery's timeline at Arsenal so far

Upon the expiry of his contract with French champions Paris Saint-Germain, Emery replaced the long-serving Arsene Wenger as Arsenal boss in May 2018.

The 2018-19 campaign was somewhat of a free season for him, where expectations were relatively low and the most important thing was implementing his ideas and philosophy.

Arsenal finished fifth in the league, just a point behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and reached the Europa League final - where they were thumped 4-1 by Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea.

In the summer, Arsenal smashed their club-record fee with the £72 million signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille but the team's style of play this term has disappointed.

90% of Arsenal fans are now #EmeryOut

The #WengerOut campaign put a major dampener on the legendary Wenger's final years at the club and now the #EmeryOut propaganda is more ferocious than ever before.

Following the draw with Wolves, who recorded 25 shots on goal at the Emirates (Arsenal had ten), Twitter user @arseblog created a poll regarding Emery's future at the helm.

The account has over 300,000 followers and the three options to choose from were "Sack him (Emery) now", "Give him a bit more time" or "Give him until the end of the season".

Why do fans want him out?

Even when Wenger no longer challenged for the title at Arsenal, his team would regularly produce games full of free-flowing and beautiful football.

That said, under Emery, Arsenal have become quite conservative, they lack creativity which Mesut Ozil's apparent ostracism hasn't helped with, and they've lost a lot of recent leads.

The Gunners blew a 2-0 advantage to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace last month, they were ahead twice in the crazy EFL Cup defeat at Liverpool and they lost another lead against Wolves.

A lot of fans question his substitutions in games, the defensive issues haven't really improved that much (if at all) since his arrival and their away form is still pretty poor.

Up until this week, the general consensus seemed to be that some fans were #EmeryOut whilst an equal amount were happy to give him more time in the job.

However, as this poll indicates, the overwhelming majority of Gooners are now done with Emery and want him out of the club as quickly as possible.
