It wasn't the ending anyone wanted, but boy did Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz put on a spectacle for the fans in attendance at UFC 244.
The Rock was present to wrap the 'Baddest Motherf**ker' Title around the waist of the winner, and it would ended up being the number three-ranked Masvidal.
Gamebred got the fight off to a hot start, dropping Diaz with an elbow and head kick in the opening couple of minutes, restricting Diaz to defensive movements on the mat for the rest of the round.
Diaz got caught yet again in round two with a huge punch by Masvidal, but despite sustaining two gashes to his face, he was beginning to warm up as round three ended.
Masvidal was up on all three scorecards very convincingly after 15 minutes - two 30-27s and one 30-26 - but then a decision was made by UFC's official doctor that incensed fans.

He waved the fight off due to Diaz's cuts, which didn't look as bad as others he's suffered from previously - ones he's managed to complete fights with.
Despite not looking in an awful state, the decision to call the fight off was the right one, according to UFC President Dana White.
“These things happen," White stated at the post-fight press conference, per Lowkick.
"At first I was b**ching and p**sed off and said, ‘They didn’t stop the Tyson Fury fight, and that cut was nasty, and whatever.'
"But then I walked back and I saw Nate Diaz and his eyebrow was literally flipped out in front of his eye and he had another huge gash under his eye."
Because of the ending of the fight, both men said they want to run it back pronto so they can find out who really is the better man over five rounds - but White isn't keen, stating that Masvidal has bigger things coming his way.
“No. It doesn’t interest me right away,” said White.
“I think that - I got asked a couple of questions tonight, you know, Diaz comes on in the later rounds, if this fight had gone later, they didn’t stop it, what would’ve happened? Whatever - but it didn’t.
“It got stopped with cuts and Masvidal looked very dominant. He looked good, he’s looked good all year.
"He’s had nothing but great fights all year. If anybody is the fighter of 2019, it’s definitely that kid. And I think he has some big options coming his way.
No doubting that Masvidal v Diaz 2 in Las Vegas would make the company a ton of money, but with UFC's new deal with ESPN, that doesn't seem to matter as much for Dana and co anymore.
We may see Masvidal challenge the winner of next month's fight between Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman in the near future - Diaz meanwhile will need to go away and heal before making any decisions on his next fight.News Now - Sport News
