We have already seen some astounding football this weekend and there is still more to come on Sunday.Liverpool and Manchester City produced incredible late comebacks to beat Aston Villa and Southampton respectively, while Manchester United were beaten by Bournemouth.

On the continent, there were some massive upsets too, with Dijon beating French untouchables PSG, Barcelona losing to Levante, while Bavarian giants Bayern Munich were thrashed by Frankfurt. While those results were a perfect showcase of the beautiful game, there were a few incidents that unfortunately showed the ugly side of the game we love, too.

Sadio Mane was booked for diving in the box against Villa but it got even worse after Armando Izzo's Oscar-worthy performance having being nudged by Cristiano Ronaldo v Juventus.

In fact, to call it as much as a nudge is being rather generous.

As Ronaldo walked past the Torino defender, he caught him with his elbow, thus beginning one of the finest performances the footballing stage has ever seen.

Izzo went down like he had been shot, and stayed there for far longer than he ever should have.

While it is all well and good to make jokes about this kind of behaviour, you can not deny that it is a blight on the game.

Izzo's awful endgame was to get Ronaldo in trouble, there can be no questioning it, and the Portuguese superstar could do nothing but laugh at the disgraceful play-acting.

If you want to beat someone, beat them with your skill, not through sly and deceiving tactics.

Fortunately, Juve would eventually win the tight affair thanks to a goal from new signing Matthijs de Ligt.

We can only hope that Izzo woke up this morning regretting his remarkable rolly-polys.

There is no room for that sort of thing in football - simple.
