Seth Rollins touched a nerve amongst wrestling fans recently when he referred to AEW as being the 'minor leagues' when compared to WWE.

During a recent Fandemic Tour convention, Rollins commented on possibly facing Kenny Omega in a match in the future.

The Beastslayer said it would happen once 'Kenny is done playing in the minor leagues', referring to AEW. This shot towards WWE's newest rival got wrestling fans talking.

Rollins would later say the comment in jest and in response to Omega's previous comments calling NXT 'developmental talent', but the damage had been done as AEW announcer Jim Ross didn't like it.

AEW co-executive vice president Cody Rhodes had a different perspective on the 'minor leagues' comment, and he revealed it during a recent appearance on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg

Rhodes said, via Fightful: "The 'developmental' comments, when they came from Kenny. And the 'minor league' comments, when they came from Seth.

"I think that's just two really great athletes trying to prod and poke and get under the skin of another.

"I don't think they were as mean spirited as the world made them out to be. I think Seth is super talented. He works his ass off for them when a lot of people at that company just collect a check.

"I sit back in those moments and don't take it personally. Part of wrestling is us talking s**t about each other."

Both AEW and WWE have taken shots at one another ever since AEW was created earlier this year, whether it be Cody smashing Triple H's throne with a sledgehammer, to Rollins' calling AEW the 'minor leagues'.

The constant shots at one another are becoming just another part of the Wednesday Night Wars between NXT and AEW.

They'll likely be more shots to come between WWE and AEW in the future, but at the moment, it's AEW that's in the lead in the Wednesday Night Wars as they've been dominating in the TV ratings.
