Chelsea have been in excellent form of late, winning eight of their previous nine fixtures.

However, Frank Lampard’s side endured a difficult first half on Tuesday night against last season’s Champions League semi-finalists Ajax.

The Blues went 1-0 down in the second minute through an own goal from in-form striker Tammy Abraham, only for Jorginho to level the scores two minutes later from the penalty spot.

Quincy Promes then scored a header to make it 2-1 to the visitors on the 20th minute.

And Ajax went 3-1 up when Hakim Ziyech’s free-kick from near the corner flag embarrassed Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Whether Ziyech, the 26-year-old who joined Ajax from FC Twente in 2016, meant to shoot is unclear.

Some people think he did…

But regardless of whether he meant it or not, the ball flew over Kepa before bouncing back off the Spanish ‘keeper via the back post.

Ziyech celebrated like a man acting as if he meant it - although only he knows whether it was an attempt at goal or a cross.

Unfortunately for Ziyech, though, it officially went down as a Kepa own goal.

The ball came back off the Chelsea man's face...

Via OptaJoe, this means Chelsea become only the second side to concede two own goals in the first half of a Champions League game after CFR Cluj (v Bayern Munich, October 2010).
