When Ireland Women’s Hockey team took on Canada over the weekend, they did so in sports bra’s provided by Queen B Athletics.

Founded by sisters Bríd Ryan and Aeden Corbyn, Queen B Athletics became the first business to secure a sports bra partnership with Hockey Ireland’s women’s team.

Sports bras are considered an essential part of any women’s sports kit as it provides support and also empowers women. Founders Ryan and Corbyn took this into consideration when designing the kit by working closely with the Irish Hockey team, placing importance on their input for the creation of the sports bra.

The sports bra features a plain navy colour-way with green accents. It also includes the word ‘Ireland’ emblazoned at the front of the sports bra and ‘Green Army’ at the back with both Hockey Ireland and Queen B Athletics’ logo.

"A sports bra is an essential piece of kit not underwear. When your sports bra has been designed as part of your kit and is part of your uniform, I think it inspires you," said co-founder Bríd Ryan.

“I think this partnership is part of a huge, bigger picture. It’s part of a movement that is about providing proper kit for women in sport, but also promoting women’s sport,” she added.

In what was the biggest crowd ever (6,137) for a women’s international team event in Ireland, the Green Army was able to take the win and book their ticket to the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.
