Arsene Wenger is set to be offered the Bayern Munich job until the end of the season.

That's according to The Sun, who report that the Frenchman has already been contacted by club chiefs, who sacked Niko Kovac after a 5-1 defeat to Frankfurt last weekend.

Bayern are keen to give the ex-Arsenal boss a short-term deal, before deciding if he is the right man for the job next summer.

Wenger is likely to hold talks with chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge this weekend, after Munich's massive clash against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

It's likely a deal could be made during the international break, which would see the Frenchman take over in time to face former rivals Tottenham in the Champions League on December 11.

ANALYSIS
GIVEMESPORT'S Ollie Browning says:

Wenger has been out of management since leaving Arsenal in the summer of 2018.

Now seems like the perfect time for him to get back into the dugout and the opportunity to coach Bayern Munich is surely too good to turn down.

The 70-year-old will have a superb squad at his disposal too.

Robert Lewandowski is one of the best strikers in the world and he's got a supporting cast that includes the likes of Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich and David Alaba.

Then, of course, there's Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian struggled at Barcelona last season but has shown flashes of class at Allianz Arena and a fresh manager could help him get back to his best.

A deal is yet to be confirmed, but the idea of Wenger returning to management with Bayern Munich is one that should excite supporters.
