One week ago today, Cain Velasquez made his WWE debut against possibly the toughest competitor you're likely to ever come across.
The former UFC heavyweight champion was pitted against his former nemesis from the Octagon - Brock Lesnar - and it was for the WWE Championship, despite having not competed in a WWE ring before.
Fans were hoping to see some of the athleticism Velasquez showed in his two Lucha Libre AAA appearances earlier in the year, but we saw anything but that.
What they got was a glorified MMA fight, with Cain getting a few strikes in, but in the end Lesnar locked in the Kimura armbar on him and after just two minutes of action, that was that.
Not the kind of match the WWE Universe really wanted, but considering he signed a three-year contract last month, Velasquez has plenty of time to prove himself over a longer match.

He has recently been advertised to wrestle at a WWE live event in Mexico City on November 30, where Rey Mysterio is set to be his tag team partner against Andrade and Drew McIntyre.
However it appears that Velasquez has now been pulled from the match, and is now just scheduled for an 'appearance', per PW Insider.
Mysterio is now billed to team with Humberto Carrillo against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson - and the reason for this may be because of a long-standing injury to Velasquez.
Cain has quite visibly been wearing a knee brace in his WWE appearances, and this stems from an injury suffered in the Octagon against Francis Ngannou back in February.
WWE signed him knowing that he would eventually need surgery to repair his damaged knee, and the fact his match with Lesnar lasted just two minutes and he's now not competing in Mexico City points to the fact he needs surgery immediately.
That would put him on the sidelines for numerous months, depending on the severity of his injuries, and maybe when he's fixed we will see the Cain that showed brief glimpses of ability in his two matches in AAA.News Now - Sport News
